Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 per month on a 3-year term, or $2,500 per month on a 1-year term, per Shopify Plus pricing (accessed June 23, 2026). Very high-volume stores move to a variable platform fee instead. Plus pays off when transaction-fee savings, built-in B2B, and multi-store needs outweigh that base cost, usually past mid-seven-figure revenue.
This guide covers the 2026 price, the variable model, hidden costs, the Advanced-to-Plus deltas, and migration.
Shopify Plus costs from $2,300 per month on a 3-year term, or $2,500 per month on a 1-year term, for standard setups and integrations.
Higher-volume businesses with more complex structures switch to a variable platform fee based on revenue and business model. Shopify does not publish the exact variable percentage or threshold and directs merchants to its sales team.
The widely cited figures of a 0.25% to 0.40% revenue share above roughly $800,000 in monthly sales come from agency blogs, not Shopify. Treat them as directional.
The Shopify Plus monthly fee is one line item. Three more drive your true cost: transaction fees, extra stores, and any custom development.
Base platform fee. From $2,300 per month (3-year term) or $2,500 per month (1-year term).
Transaction fees. With Shopify Payments, Plus carries the lowest card rates of any plan, from 2.25% + 30¢ online, and third-party transaction fees are waived globally. If you use an outside payment gateway, you pay your processor plus 0.20% per transaction to Shopify (Shopify Plus).
Extra stores. Your main store plus 9 expansion stores are included. Additional stores cost $300 per month each, or a revenue share across all stores (Shopify Plus).
Custom development and apps. Shopify lists no other mandatory fees. Optional costs are one-time themes, third-party apps, and Shopify Plus Partner development (Shopify Plus).
Shopify Plus is the top tier, above Basic, Grow, and Advanced. The table below uses current published figures.
| Plan | Monthly price | Shopify Payments card rate (online) | Staff accounts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $19 | from 2.9% + 30¢ | limited |
| Grow (formerly Shopify) | $54 | from 2.7% + 30¢ | up to 5 |
| Advanced | $299 | from 2.5% + 30¢ | up to 15 |
| Plus | from $2,300 | from 2.25% + 30¢ | unlimited |

The jump that matters is Advanced to Plus. The monthly fee rises from $299 to $2,300, so the lower card rate and Plus-only features have to earn back roughly $2,000 per month.
Shopify reserves a specific feature set for Plus. These are the deltas that justify the price for the right store.
B2B on Shopify. Run wholesale and DTC from one back office. Company accounts, custom price lists, and payment terms are built in, replacing third-party wholesale apps.
Checkout customizations. Plus opens up Shopify’s checkout through Checkout Extensibility, the framework that replaced the deprecated checkout.liquid file. You add custom fields, upsells, and branding without editing checkout code.
Shopify Functions. Write custom back-end logic for discounts, shipping, and cart rules, deployed as apps rather than legacy scripts.
Headless commerce. Build a custom front end on Shopify’s APIs, or deploy a React-based headless stack at no extra cost.
Managed Markets. A localization suite for cross-border selling: duties, taxes, and currency handling across markets.
Other Plus inclusions. Shopify POS Pro, Shopify Audiences, ShopifyQL Notebooks, unlimited staff accounts, and higher API limits round out the tier.
Shopify Plus makes financial sense once your savings and feature needs clear the roughly $2,000 monthly gap over Advanced. Use these signals, not a single revenue number.
You likely justify Plus when:
Advanced is still enough when:
A common rule of thumb puts the break-even point near $5M in annual revenue once fee savings and removed apps are counted.
The base fee understates the real bill. Four variable costs decide your total.
Past a high revenue level, Shopify replaces the flat fee with a variable fee that is revenue-based and set per contract. You cannot model this from public data, so request the terms before you commit.
Outside gateways add 0.20% per transaction cost on top of your processor’s fees. At scale, staying on Shopify Payments usually costs less (Shopify Plus).
Each store beyond the included ten adds $300 per month (Shopify Plus).
Headless builds, checkout extensions, and integrations carry agency or in-house engineering costs. Budget for a Shopify Plus Partner if you customize heavily.
Shopify does not charge a platform fee to migrate to Plus, though paid services are available for custom needs.
Your existing store upgrades in place. Products, orders, customers, and most apps carry over, and you gain Plus-only features once provisioning completes. Migration responsibility sits with you, and a Shopify representative can scope the work.
What to review after upgrading:
Shopify Plus is a poor fit for some stores, even profitable ones. Skip it in these cases.
In each case, the money is better spent on conversion levers you can run today on any plan.
An AI sales agent runs the same on Advanced as on Plus, so you can raise revenue per visitor before committing to a $2,300 monthly platform fee. That matters because Plus often gets justified by revenue you have not captured yet.
Zipchat acts as a revenue engine across both tiers: it answers product questions, recommends products in chat, and recovers carts on website chat and WhatsApp. The same setup carries into Plus, including multi-store, headless, and B2B configurations, from one knowledge base.
Cricket-Hockey manages 21,000 SKUs, including B2B distributor accounts, with one AI system serving wholesale and DTC questions (Cricket-Hockey story). For setup options, see the AI chatbot for Shopify guide and tactics in how to increase average order value.
Shopify is pushing Plus deeper into B2B, headless, and AI-assisted checkout, while Commerce Components sits above Plus for modular enterprise builds.
Checkout Extensibility is now the only supported path for checkout customization, so app ecosystems are consolidating around it. Expect more B2B portal depth and tighter AI features at checkout through 2026 to 2027.
For agentic commerce, AI agents will handle more of the B2B loop, from inquiry and quote to approval and order, where Plus merchants run the most complex workflows.
From $2,300 per month on a 3-year term, or $2,500 per month on a 1-year term, for standard setups. High-volume stores move to a variable platform fee instead.
With Shopify Payments, online credit card processing rates start at 2.25% + 30¢, and third-party transaction fees are waived. Using an outside gateway adds 0.20% per transaction to Shopify.
Advanced costs $299 per month; Plus starts at $2,300. Plus adds built-in B2B, Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, headless tools, multi-store, and unlimited staff.
Shopify sets no public revenue minimum. Most stores adopt Plus for transaction-fee savings, native B2B, multi-store, or checkout customization, typically past mid-seven-figure revenue.
Shopify charges no platform fee to migrate, but optional paid services exist for custom work. The store upgrades in place with data and apps carried over.
Price Shopify Plus on the total cost, not the sticker fee. Add the $2,300 base, your real transaction-fee savings, extra-store fees, and development, then compare that to what Advanced costs you today.
If the math is close, raise revenue per visitor first with an AI sales agent that runs on any standard Shopify plan, then upgrade once Plus clearly pays for itself.
